Possible Mac Malware Alert
**This message is intended ONLY for Mac computer users.**
Please use the following steps to check for the possible Mac Malware.
1. Open Finder.
2. In the Menu Bar at the top of your screen, click on “Go”.
3. From the drop-down list that appears, click on “Go to Folder”.
4. Copy/paste the following into the window.
~/Library/LaunchAgents/
5. If you have any Launch Agents installed, this will open the LaunchAgents subfolder, where you should see only a few files and they should be recognizable, like “com.dropbox…..”, etc. If you have the following file, delete it and then restart your Mac.
“com.wznlVRt83Jsd.HPyT0b4Hwxh.plist”
If you do not have any Launch Agents installed, you also do not have the malware installed and you will not see the LaunchAgents subfolder. You will get a tutorial saying “File Not Found”, in which case you don’t need to do anything else.
Urgent Security Update!
URGENT UPDATE!
Microsoft is urging Windows users to immediately install an update after security researchers found a serious vulnerability in the operating system.
The security flaw, known as PrintNightmare, affects the Windows Print Spooler service. Researchers at cybersecurity company Sangfor accidentally published a how-to guide for exploiting it.
Microsoft (MSFT) warned that hackers that exploit the vulnerability could install programs, view and delete data or even create new user accounts with full user rights. That gives hackers enough command and control of your PC to do some serious damage.
Please update your PC as soon as possible to limit your exposure to this serious vulnerability.
NOTE: If you have Automatic Updates turned on, you will most likely already have this update installed. Here’s how to tell and what to do if it’s not installed.
1. Go to Settings > Windows Update. If you have ANY updates waiting, install them.
2. After any waiting updates are installed, go to “Update History” and look for “2021-07 Cumulative Update……(KB5004945). If this update is listed, your computer is protected from this vulnerability.
3. After installing all waiting updates and checking for the above specific update and find it’s not listed, run “Windows Update” to see if it downloads and installs the above update.
4. If you still do not have “2021-07 Cumulative Update……(KB5004945)” installed, be patient, as it will eventually be downloaded and installed.
Windows 7 users.
Microsoft has added an update for this vulnerability to Windows 7, even though they don’t typically update operating system versions that are past their End-of-Life date. If you still use Windows 7, check for this update.
New tech to provide hearing loss options
Technological innvations are now providing more nuanced solutions to solve hearing loss issues. The choice is no longer between hearing aid or no hearing aid. This is particularly true for those with mild to moderate hearing loss. If you own a smartphone, as most of us do, you probably have a solution right in your hand.
iCloud Scam
Evidently there’s another round of iCloud scam calls ongoing—one of our members said she received several yesterday. The message says, “Your iCloud account has been breached, call us back at 315-232-8257.” Other area codes are 913, 855 and probably others. Obviously. you do not want to call.

Computer Sale by TAP
Need a New Computer?
How about a desktop or laptop PC that has been completely refurbished by the TVCUC Technology Access Program (TAP)?
At the beginning of each year we are allowed to sell a limited number of the systems refurbished by TAP but they sell out very quickly. For a fraction of the cost of a new computer you can have one that runs like new. And the best part – what you pay goes toward funding more refurbished computers that are repurposed to needy youth and folks who might not otherwise have a computer.
