Do you know how to turn your computer off?
You probably think all you need do is hit the switch on the front of the computer case, but you would be wrong. You have to hit the switch and hold it in place for 5 to 7 seconds (it will seem longer) to get it to power down.

That's because that switch is programmable (settings in Vista are found in power options) and the default action is not to shut off the power.

Most times it will not matter. You will shut down the computer from the start menu, but sometimes the start menu is not there or not working and you have to use the power switch. Hold it down. If that doesn't work, pull the plug.
